My sister's cat died this weekend. Such a bummer. He was a ginormous red cat with a lot of character, and he was her buddy.
I hate when pets die. They are such a big part of you, that it is jarring when they leave. You see your pet day and night, much more often than you see most people. They are loyal and loving and keep you warm at night.
We should all appreciate them a little more while they are here.

Thanks, MM. I miss the guy. Like you said, for the past 9.5 years, regardless of my marital status or social activities - his was the first face I saw almost every morning, inviting me into the day. He was an absolutely unique puppy-cat that didn't quite know what he was, except special and loved.

i'm so sorry sally! losing pets is the worst, and i think only other pet-lovers truly understand ... i'm thinking about you!
ReplyDeletethanks - it's weird. I'm fine, then something clicks and I tear up. It's hard to explain to non-pet-lovers the sheer amount of time and devotion involved, never mind the love.
ReplyDeleteI just read this and am so sorry that Maddie and Abs lost a cousin. But, now we can say Rojito is playing chase with my dear cats, Baxter and RaRa.
